Permanent Visa Entitlements

So what does a Permanent Residence Visa actually entail? To recap, the website for the  175 visa  or the current  189 visa  type states: This is a permanent residence visa. It allows you and any family members who have also been granted this visa to: stay in Australia indefinitely work and study in Australia enrol in  Medicare , Australia's scheme for health-related care and expenses apply for Australian citizenship  (if you are eligible) sponsor eligible relatives for permanent residence travel to and from Australia for five years from the date the visa is granted (after that time, you will need a resident return visa or another visa to return to Australia). IMMI Grant Notification

It's four thirty a.m. and you get up to get some work done that has been pending all week. You fire up your laptop and, as usual, Microsoft taxes your nerves with its usual dose of unexpected updates that are wasting precious time. A cup of green tea, hurl of insults and thumb twiddling later, Windows finally starts up and you are able to open your Chrome browser for a quick routine glance through your email. Police Clearance

Getting the Police Clearance was easier than I thought and a lot less expensive. Turns out Tahir Bhai at the police station was simply an officer on duty and not related to the division that handles Police Certificates. He had also exaggerated about the number of trips I needed to take back and forth and the two week processing period. But then again, even the division staff themselves were surprised how quickly our certificates came through, since the actual processing actually took no more than a day and half, so that I could collect it on Sunday morning. Assistant Superintendent Mukhtar was the key liaison who made it all so easy. When I went to submit my testimonials and attached documents, he also gave me a CPLC form to fill out for verification.
