Most Upcoming and Affordable Suburbs in Melbourne
So Melbourne has been named the world's most liveable city for the fourth year in a row (Aug 2014), by the Economist Intelligence Unit's liveability survey of 140 cities. Melbourne received an overall score of 97.5 out of 100, scoring a perfect rating for healthcare, education and infrastructure.
In Nov 2011, the age published a list of livability rankings for Melbourne Suburbs (data has yet to be updated). I used the rankings from the article and combined it with top school rankings and a survey of rentals using realestate.com.au to create an interactive map on Tableau, shown below. The size of the bubble represents the change in ranking and the color coding shows cheaper rentals in green on the left. On the right hand side map, darker greens represent higher ranking suburbs.
The age also published their own interactive map here.
It's pretty obvious that the Northern suburbs seem to be coming up much faster and have higher rankings with better schools.
Slightly North West, Flemington is very affordable and highly livable, presenting probably the best affordability, overall ranking and improvement in rankings as well as proximity to the city.
Coburg has improved dramatically, though it is still relatively low-ranked, while Huntingdale is a similar and even more affordable option in the East. Further down in the South, Parkdale is both a stable and high-ranking suburb that is also quite affordable.
Other interesting but more expensive suburbs to consider are Cremorne for its solid gain in rankings and proximity to the CBD as well as cheaper rental. On the other side of the CBD, Newport is a higher ranking option with similar level of affordability and relative proximity to the city.

I’m amazed, I have to admit. Rarely do I encounter a blog that’s equally educative and interesting, and let me tell you, you’ve hit the nail on the head. Please check the Link (http://www.sqiar.com/services/tableau-software-consultants/)
